new energy efficiency measures for buildings - media release

At its meeting today, the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) decided to include energy efficiency measures for commercial buildings (Class 5-9) in BCA2006. The Board also decided to enhance the existing provisions to a nominal 5 star energy performance level for housing.

australia must not cut and run from energy efficiency initiatives

A leading building industry group today called on Federal and State Governments not to wind back planned energy efficiency initiatives for buildings.

Dennis D'Arcy, President of the Insulation Council of Australia & New Zealand (ICANZ), was responding to a draft Productivity Commission report released yesterday.

fletcher building - acquisition of amatek holdings limited - media release

Fletcher Building today announced that it has completed the purchase of Amatek Holdings Limited (Amatek).

Amatek is a holding company comprising four Australian building products businesses: Rocla Pipeline Products (a national supplier of steel reinforced concrete pipes and precast products), Rocla Quarry Products (a regional operator of sand quarries), Stramit (a leading supplier of roll formed steel roofing and structural products) and Insulation Solutions (a manufacturer of glasswool and foil insulation).

australian foil insulation manufacturers association (afima) - media release

By way of introduction, AFIMA members represent over 85% of all foil insulation manufactured in the Australian insulation industry. AFIMA also represents the interests of the foil insulation industry of Australia's peak insulation industry body, the Insulation Manufacturers Association of Australia (IMAA).

Relatively new to the foil insulation industry are the single sided reflective foil laminate (RFL) that contain a woven polymer mesh on one surface and an aluminium foil on the other. It is AFIMA's view that these products should not be installed in direct contact with metal roofs due to the high temperatures experienced in this application.

insulation council of australia and new zealand (icanz)

The Insulation Council of Australia and New Zealand (ICANZ) was formed in July 2004 to replace the industry association, FARIMA. This new body now includes New Zealand membership reflecting the trend towards common building standards, closer ties in research, testing and other trans-Tasman building initiatives.
